Music & Design blogMicrosoft new PR campaign for Vista
This is an excellent Viral type promotion currently doing the rounds on teh net at the moment. Basically Microsoft got some random (or so they say) people off the street and asked them about their views on VISTA. They all slated it.
Then they asked them to try out Microsofts latest development platform….which got amazing reviews from everyone!
The twist? They were using VISTA all along!

Videoranch – An alternative to online gigging
Mike from The Monkees launched his new project a while back – and I just wanted to bring it to your attention.
A basic run down on what it is:
- It’s a second life powered interface where you virtually attend shows at specific times.
- The band performs in his studio and is broadcast onto the internet
- When you log onto the page – your avatar gets beamed onto the wall inside the studio, thereby giving the artist a sense of how many people are “attending” the show.
Check it out – it only take’s a minute to register and sign up
cuil.com to rival SE Google?
Cuil states that they have archived more that 120billion web pages. So far – it looks legit and with the creators experience coming from a Google background – you have to believe the hype. Or do you?I personally think on first impressions the site is too dark and not at all inviting. Googles success is based on the fact people enjoy looking at the funny writing and illustrations every day (even if you don’t – you probably do somewhere in your subconscious!)

Verdict?
Cool Myspace bands I have recently listened to
I’m an avid myspacer, and some may know I am a serious musician myself. One of the best new bands I have come across, hail from Ireland. They may not be everyones taste (quite pop) – but they are BMGs latest signing – The Script.

Myspace Music to launch in September
MySpace Music will launch in September, according to Chris DeWolfe, the social network’s CEO.
DeWolfe made the comments at the Fortune Brainstorm conference in Half Moon Bay, California, TechCrunch reported.
MySpace announced in April that it planned to launch a music service that would offer songs from three out of the top four recording companies (EMI has yet to join).
MySpace said then that the music site, which will offer free streaming music, unprotected MP3 downloads, ringtones, and merchandise, would roll out over a span of three to four months.
This is excellent news! (i think!)
Some cool new music
Here’s a list of some cool new music to get your teeth stuck into:
http://www.myspace.com/royseven (fantastic alternative to the usual mainstream)
http://www.myspace.com/seawolf
http://www.myspace.com/aimeemann (new album SMILERS out now – well worth buying)
http://www.myspace.com/vestavarro (think U2′s bastard child mixed in with Editors/ Interpol)
http://www.myspace.com/thehtrillsofficial (their 3rd album is one of the best Irish albums in the last few years – check it out)
sea wolf
this guy has some cool tunes. Arcade Fire/ Echo and the Bunnymen in parts, mixed in with some Beck influences. He’s on Dangerfield Records in LA, which is also home to Becks fave producer Mr. Tony Hoffer, so that might explain some of the influences….excellent stuff.
